How to Check Ahrefs DR of Any Website (Free, in Bulk)

Updated 08 Oct 2026

Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR) is the number most SEOs look at first when judging a website. Link sellers quote it, agencies filter prospect lists with it, and domain investors use it to price expired domains. In this guide you will learn three ways to check it, including how to check the DR of hundreds of sites at once for free.

What is Ahrefs DR?

Domain Rating is a score from 0 to 100 that shows how strong a website’s backlink profile is compared with every other site Ahrefs knows about. It is based on how many unique websites link to a domain and how strong those linking websites are. The scale is logarithmic, so it gets harder to gain points as the score rises.

Method 1: Ahrefs itself

If you have a paid Ahrefs subscription, type a domain into Site Explorer and the DR is shown at the top of the overview. This is ideal for deep research on one site, but it is expensive if you only need DR, and checking many domains one by one is slow.

Method 2: A single-site free checker

Ahrefs and other sites offer free single-domain checkers. They work, but you usually have to solve a captcha for each domain and copy each result by hand. That is fine for two or three sites, not for a list of 200.

Method 3: A bulk DR checker (fastest)

A bulk checker lets you paste your whole list at once. Here is how to do it with our free bulk Ahrefs DR checker:

  1. Paste your list. One domain per line. Full URLs are fine; they are cleaned automatically.
  2. Press Check DR. Domains are checked in parallel batches and results appear live.
  3. Sort and export. Sort by DR, then download a CSV or copy the table.

Every visitor gets free checks with no signup, and more after a free signup – enough for most one-off lists.

How to read the results

  • DR 71–100 (Elite): major brands and platforms
  • DR 51–70 (Strong): respected niche authorities
  • DR 31–50 (Moderate): established sites
  • DR 11–30 (Low): growing sites
  • DR 0–10 (Very low): new or very small sites

Common mistakes

Trusting DR alone. A high DR with no organic traffic is a red flag. Comparing DR with DA. Moz Domain Authority uses a different formula, so the numbers will not match. Using old numbers. DR changes as sites gain and lose links, so re-check before you buy a link or a domain.

Conclusion

For one site, any free checker will do. For a list, a bulk checker saves hours. Paste your domains into the bulk DR checker and get every score in one table.
