What is Ahrefs DR?
Domain Rating (DR) is a score from 0 to 100 created by Ahrefs. It shows how strong a website’s backlink profile is compared with every other site in the Ahrefs index. A site with many links from strong, unique websites gets a high DR. A new site with few links sits near zero.
The scale is logarithmic. Moving from DR 10 to DR 20 is fairly easy, while moving from DR 70 to DR 80 takes a huge amount of authority. That is why a jump of a few points at the top of the scale matters more than it looks.
How is DR calculated?
Ahrefs looks at the number of unique domains linking to a site and the DR of those linking domains. Links from sites that themselves link out to thousands of other domains pass less value. Only followed links are counted. The final number is then plotted on the 0–100 scale.
DR does not measure traffic, content quality or rankings directly. It is a measure of link authority, and it works best when you use it to compare websites against each other.
